Miller are looking or an innovative individual to support the Head of Professional & Financial Risks Business Unit and senior management team in overseeing the administrative, operational and financial functions. 

The Role

 

  • This role includes working alongside the Head of Business Unit to devise and put into action operational strategies that are in line with Miller’s overarching aims and objectives. Part of the role is to oversee and measure progress against the business plan, providing financial reporting and monitoring in collaboration with the financial business partner. This also encompasses the development and management of the business unit's budget and financial forecasting.
  • The role involves aiding in change management across the business unit to encourage teamwork and scalability, as well as the effective organisation and administration of senior management team meetings in collaboration with the Head of Business Unit. It includes the establishment of efficient management systems for overseeing operational performance against key performance indicators and targets.
  • The position necessitates the identification and control of commercial risks to the business, working in partnership with the Head of Business Unit, senior management team, and wider teams as appropriate. These risks include financial, market, operational and employee retention.
  • The role involves analysing financial data to spot trends, problems and opportunities, and ensuring that the business unit adheres to Miller's procedures and policies. This will be done while monitoring key performance indicators in cooperation with Miller's audit and compliance teams.
  • It's also important to ensure that operational activities are in compliance with relevant laws, regulations and standards. The role demands innovative thinking in operational processes and systems to support business growth and maintain a competitive edge.
  • The role requires the identification and implementation of process improvements to boost efficiency and productivity across the business unit. Support will be provided to the Head of Business Unit and members of the senior management team to lead effectively, manage teams and ensure high performance and employee engagement.
 

Knowledge


Comprehensive knowledge of financial principles, practices and applications including analysis and reporting within an insurance environment.
Capacity to analyse financial data and use it to inform strategic decisions
The ability to identify, analyse and mange commercial risk
Ability to oversee projects from initiation to completion, managing resources and timelines effectively
Strong grasp of information technology and digital trends in the insurance and wider financial services environment

Experience


Proven experience in a similar role, working within insurance, financial or similar professional sector
Strong analytical skills and ability to work with complex data sets
Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel and other statistical software
Familiarity with business analysis methodologies and frameworks
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
Detail orientated with excellent organizational and time management skills
To work independently and part of a team
