We're extremely proud of the role our young people play in our mutual success and recognise the importance of investing in the ongoing development of our future leaders. Here are a selection of stories from across Miller highlighting some of our younger generation's recent contributions and achievements.
Miller WSIA under-40 group representatives champion London
Miller’s Camilla Husselbee, Michael Lee and Louise Gladding are attending the WSIA under-40 Annual Meeting in Nashville on 20-21 October.
The event schedule includes a peer-to-peer session on “The Evolving London Market,” during which a panel of London-based U40s will share their perspective on technology and its impact on the communication stream within the distribution channel, building a network and exchanging ideas from across the pond.
WSIA’s U40 is designed to develop insurance professionals who are currently employed by a WSIA member firm, and under the age of 40, through education, networking and leadership opportunities.
The team will be joining other young wholesale, specialty and surplus lines industry young professionals at the annual meeting.
We expect London market conditions to be a hot topic and the team will be on hand to share their expertise and answer members’ questions.
London market update
WSIA President Joel Cavaness will also be speaking at the event. Earlier this year Joel spoke to Miller on the value a wholesale broker can bring to the insurance lifecycle. Read the article here.
Georgina Robinson nominated for broker of the year award!
Congratulations to our onshore construction broker Georgina Robinson, who has been shortlisted for ‘Insurance Broker of the Year’ at this year’s Women in Insurance Awards.
Georgina was nominated by Miller colleagues, having risen to the challenge of a hardening construction market. She has always put her clients first, achieving some excellent broking results in a difficult market.
To be held at the Insurance Business’s Women in Insurance Summit in London on 10 October, the awards recognise women in the insurance industry who are making a significant contribution to their profession, community and clients.
Wishing you the very best of luck Georgina!
Oliver Lombard on Houston Mariners panel
Oliver Lombard from our Cargo team recently spoke at the Houston Marine & Energy Insurance Conference. This annual conference has been taking place in Houston since 1965 (54 years!).
Oliver was part of a distinguished panel on ‘Reinventing Supply Chain Risk Management’, speaking to a captivated audience at the Westin Galleria Hotel.
Several major incidents have disrupted the supply chains of global manufacturers and managers of construction projects in recent years, including the Hanjin bankruptcy, Tsunamis in Japan and natural catastrophes across the US/Caribbean and Asia.
As a result, it is becoming increasingly relevant for these manufacturers & project managers to investigate various ways to mitigate the risks of ‘supply chain disruption’, including risk exposure analysis, in-depth contractual review and procuring insurance to transfer this risk.
The panel discussed the different ways to conduct these steps, including finding hidden or missed perils and crafting bespoke insurance programs to mitigate the risks inherent in an operation’s supply chain, regardless if local or global.
