Miller and Special Contingency Risks (SCR) were invited to present on the subject of active shooter at this year’s annual RIMS Atlanta Chapter and on Thursday 9 February, Nigel Basham, Head of Prevent for SCR and Oliver Lombard from Special Risks presented to a ‘sell out’ audience of 200 people.

Having defined what an active shooter is and highlighted a number of recent attacks, Nigel and Oliver explained how non specialist insurance products are failing to match this evolving threat. Although general liability, terrorism and business income insurance cover part of the risk, a more holistic approach to risk mitigation and refined insurance offering is needed.

Our presentation registered the highest attendance of the entire RIMS event and the professional, education and non-sales approach received ‘glowing feedback’ from the event organisers.
