Admitted global programme structures

Miller can place programmes which combine a blend of direct admitted coverages with reinsurances of fronted local placements. The ‘master’ policy also wraps around any local coverage purchased on a difference in conditions and difference in limits basis to ensure that there are no gaps.

Why you may not already be covered

Commercial general liability

Although active assailant incidents may not be expressly excluded from your general liability policy, there may be no affirmative cover either. Our policy responds as primary, does not require negligence to be proven, and protects your general liability program from a random, unpredictable incident. It also provides crisis management, PR, and counselling costs, which a general liability policy would not.

Workers’ compensation

This coverage may not respond unless the motivation of the attack is related to the workplace. It is also unlikely to respond or cover visitors, guests, or customers on the property. Typically, workers’ compensation coverage will also not reimburse extra expenses to recruit or train new employees replacing those unable to continue working after an attack. Salary continuation benefits are also state specific and generally speaking, do not fully indemnify the victims. Our policy provides a clearly defined personal accident benefit.

Property

Traditional cover requires physical damage to respond, whereas our policy includes non-physical damage and business interruption following a threat. Cover also extends to cover business interruption following an incident at a neighbouring property, restricted ingress / egress or loss of attraction.

TRIA

Only responds if an incident generates at least USD5m in property and casualty losses and is deemed a Certified Terrorist Attack by the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, the Attorney General, and the U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security. To date, there has been no event certified since 9/11.
