He will be working closely with Nigel Cross and the team in Singapore, as well as James Cunningham and Benjamin Gibbons in London.
John began his career at the Bank of Montreal in New York in 1994, prior to moving into the insurance industry in 1999 as a credit underwriter at ACE Guaranty Corp. He worked at Willis Towers Watson from 2005 to 2007 before returning to underwriting with HCC Credit Group. In 2011, John relocated to Singapore with Ironshore, where he was Head of Trade Credit & Political Risks for Asia.

Working closely with our property, casualty and energy teams in both Singapore and London, Piers joins to help strengthen our client offering in Asia. His specialisms include property, terrorism, downstream energy & engineering (including contractor’s plant & machinery), construction, operational power and political violence.
Piers started his career in 2002 at Lockton. He has also worked for Price Forbes, and then Howden as Head of Reinsurance, based in Thailand. Throughout his career Piers has built enduring relationships with key clients in the region and has a strong track record of developing new business opportunities.

Julian joined Aon in 2009, spending six years in the Melbourne and Perth offices before relocating to Singapore as an Associate Director of Aon Risk Solutions. He has developed considerable expertise working with both insured and cedant clients in the region, as well as finding solutions with underwriters in Singapore and internationally.
Nigel Cross commented:
“We are delighted that John, Piers and Julian have joined Miller. They will add tremendous value to our broking team and their vast experience will support the expansion of our client offering and market presence in this dynamic and developing region.”
Internal secondment - Cecile Maury
We are also delighted to welcome Cecile Maury, who has commenced a short-term secondment to Miller Singapore from London. Cecile has been with the property and casualty team for seven years and specialises in facultative retro business for downstream energy and power clients.
This secondment supports our growth plans for Asia, helps strengthen our ‘one team’ culture and is an opportunity for Cecile to broaden her professional and cultural knowledge and experience. Her capability and London market expertise will be a tremendous asset to the Singapore team across all our Specialty lines.
