This year’s Lloyd’s Broker Academy will be held in London on the week of February 15th 2021, to ensure delegates can experience the valuable, high-quality content of the Academy in the safest way possible.

Whilst the 2020 programme is postponed, the plan is to continue hosting a second Broker Academy in October 2021. 

Miller, alongside the other working group members, is once again looking forward to welcoming the new cohort of attendees and contributing to many the sessions and social events.

Nominations are now open for the February programme, and nominations for the October programme will be opened in the springtime of 2021.

About the Lloyd’s Broker Academy

The programme is for individuals with at least three years of insurance industry experience who are seen as the ‘leaders of tomorrow’. Each participant spends three out of the five week days in London focusing on a core curriculum subject – normally the field they are already engaged in. The five core curriculum subjects this year are: management liability; professional liability; property; marine and inland transportation; and energy.

The focus of the academy will be on broader workings of the Lloyd’s market and the key role it plays in supporting North American businesses and the broader global economy. On the Friday afternoon, multi-disciplinary teams will compete for the Andrew Beazley prize, reflecting all they have learned during their week in London.  

In our experience, the week provides a really comprehensive foundation for understanding and working with Lloyd’s and London wholesale brokers.

Lloyd’s Boot Camps: An in-depth introductory programme

Lloyd’s are hosting Boot Camps in Chicago and New York to offer an in-depth introductory programme for risk professionals, who have not previously placed business in the Lloyd's market or want to gain a better understanding of Lloyd's expertise and product offerings.

These complimentary day-and-a-half events will feature focused interactive sessions with Lloyd's underwriters and brokers and their US counterparts:

• What unique risk transfer solutions are available?
• How does the market approach innovation and emerging risks?

If social distancing and travel restrictions prevent the events going ahead in person, Lloyd’s are arranging to conduct the Boot Camps virtually.
