Miller’s Cyber, Technology and Media team continues to grow and recently made two exciting hires, with Danny Cooper joining as an Account Executive, and Luke Pordham as a Broker. We caught up with them to find out what led them to Miller and what they hope to achieve with the business.
Danny, could you tell us about your career journey so far?
DC: I have 13 years’ of broking experience in the Lloyd’s market, with business predominantly emanating from North America. Most recently, I co-founded a newly established Lloyds Broker, heading up the Professional, Financial Institution and Cyber unit and growing the company through both strategic acquisitions and organic growth to 32 employees, before leaving in August 2022 to join Miller.
And Luke, could you walk us through what led you to Miller?
LP: I actually started on the Lloyd’s Graduate Programme, working with the Performance Management division during the decile ten work, before spending time in Beazley’s and Price Forbes’ Cyber teams. What Miller is looking to build in the Cyber insurance space is really compelling, so the decision to join was a no-brainer.
Danny, what is it that excites you about joining Miller?
DC: Miller’s network in both the London market and internationally has huge potential, as we look to establish a leading Cyber offering. Adding to this is the team itself, which is very impressive, and Debbie Hobbs has established a fantastic reputation in the market. It’s no secret that the Cyber market has seen a hardening of late, but that creates ample opportunity for the right people in this environment. From a cultural point of view, I have always admired Miller – it is somewhere that empowers brokers who are passionate about their clients and experts in what they do.
Would you agree, Luke?
LP: Definitely. I was excited by the fact that Miller is outward looking, always looking to improve and do more. Although this sounds simple, it's rare to see businesses really put this into action and it’s a quality which is part of Miller’s reputation in the market. I was attracted by the prospect of Miller continuing its strong growth trajectory, as well as by working alongside some very highly regarded colleagues.
Danny, could you tell us more about what your role at Miller entails?
DC: I am here to help facilitate strong service standards and growth within the Cyber team here at Miller. I am keen to continue to produce business and tap into new territories on both the wholesale and retail side, as my background is predominantly in North America. I’d like to think I’m incredibly tenacious and entrepreneurial, and coming from a small start-up Lloyd’s broker, I often had to think outside the box. I’m looking forward to bringing this approach into my new role.
And Luke, what’s your primary focus for your new role with Miller?
LP: I hope to work with the wider team as it looks to continue to develop Miller’s Cyber offering and capabilities, with a focus on both international and US business opportunities.
